I’m Jen, a body-centered psychotherapist, certified in Brainspotting, blogger, writing coach and speaker practicing in Denver and Boulder.
Everyone hits rough patches and can benefit from emotional support and practical tools. Emotional health is not often modeled or taught in the common culture, and so it helps to have a guide on the journey to serenity, freedom and joy.
It is a pleasure to work with teens and adults seeking to deepen relationships and to navigate transition. I have experience leading grief groups.

To make changes in your life, it is important to become aware of habits and subconscious beliefs sabotaging your best intentions. Then you can develop new ways of perceiving and responding to life’s challenges.
“Jen’s wisdom, knowledge, deep compassion and unflinching faith in me helped me to discover and cultivate healing. When the world and inner critic would have had me go down dark paths, she carefully helped me make my way back to the light. More empowered, confident and full of love, my life has literally been transformed for the better.” DT
I am witnessing profound healing in clients as they become mindful of their programming. When they recognize the deep-seated beliefs they have inadvertently claimed or inherited, they begin to “change their mind.” If you wonder why you “can’t control” your reactions sometimes, please have compassion with yourself. This response is physiological not psychological. You can’t help yourself in the moment because you are literally hijacked by fight, flight or freeze. I can help you to restore balance.
BRAINSPOTTING accesses encapsulated memories in the subcortex and allows the body to release the trapped emotions. Cognitive (mind) and somatic (body) techniques combine for effective results.
“Time with Jen is restorative to my body, mind, and spirit. I leave feeling whole, grounded, and nourished with truth. She has an immense capacity to be present with all that is expressed… fully accepting of all parts of me. Incredibly wise and deeply intuitive, she has joy and brightness in her eyes. I’m so grateful to be doing this work with her ~ it is helping to create the space for me to grow into who I truly am.” CM
Self Soothing by overeating, overworking or an obsession with the Internet?
These are sure signs you are overloaded and tuning out. Brainspotting and other effective techniques can produce relief. Offering individual coaching & therapy to adults and teens, as well as experiential corporate presentations, I collaborate with you to create profound and lasting change.
I teach body-centered tools that can be practiced right away so that you can respond calmly to triggers rather than react with strong emotions. I hope to serve you on the brave journey to recovery, transformation and balance.
While I treat adults and teens, the two populations I am working with most at this time are other psychotherapists as well as individuals in their 20’s. Often when leaving home, stress overwhelms and anxiety sabotages best intentions.
- stressful transitions, such as job loss and divorce
- support for grief and loss
- exploring spiritual or transpersonal practices
- unexplained chronic pain
- single incident trauma (car accident, sports injury, etc)
- performance enhancement and performance anxiety
“I felt like crying this morning when I realized how happy I am capable of feeling now. I had no comprehension of just how depressed and anxious I was feeling ALL the time. Wow!” AO
I honor clients as unique individuals and tailor the treatment and process accordingly, using a variety of tools, including mindfulness, Gestalt exercises, Phrase Pattern Therapy and Brainspotting (body-centered and depth exploration).
MINDFULNESS COACHING & SPEAKING
Commitment to mindfulness is important to crafting the healthy and joyous life you want to live. A meditator for over 40 years, I would like to guide you to create a morning and/or evening practice that is unique to you and your perception of and connection to a Higher Power. Even if you don’t believe in a Higher Power, practicing presence and gratitude can serve to grace your life. People report feeling “more alive!” I also speak about “True Love.” As we become less fear-based by practicing somatic exercises that create safety in the body, we open to divine love and full potential.
“Jen demonstrates a wonderful combination of therapeutic skills, awareness, soul and mind. Her work is great help in unlocking the confusing truths hidden in all of us.” MPS
Over the years, I have engaged in several forms of meditation and studied with many mentors. Ultimately, while therapy is client led, the teacher or counselor helps to unlock the innate wisdom as the client learns and discovers the tools that work particular to his or her unique issues. My personal journey of healing and joy launched me into the counseling field. I hope to pay it forward by helping individuals discover freedom and meaning, the truth of their feelings and the power of presence. A deep appreciation for people’s capacity to triumph, called me to this profession. We are all graced with innate “knowing” to transcend obstacles. I am a Registered Psychotherapist on the Licensed Professional Counselor track, with a Masters degree in counseling from Regis University. A published author, I received a Masters in English/creative writing from The University of Colorado, Boulder, and bachelors degrees in English and dance from the University of Santa Barbara, CA.
“Throughout all of my difficult life experiences and past times in counseling, I have not felt the level of comfort and positivity that I have with Jen. I would easily say this is the best experience with counseling I’ve had, and I am very happy with the outcome.” Megan
THE STORY OF “OWLHEART”
In Western culture, the owl represents wisdom, because it was the sacred animal of Athena, Greek Goddess of wisdom. Athena taught mankind valuable skills and protected heroes as they went to war, and she saved them as they ventured back home. In counseling we may face our greatest fears and encounter vulnerability. Sides of the self that no longer serve us die so that we can be reborn to truth. As the process deepens our wisdom and broadens our awareness, our hearts open wide! People tend to hold their heart when they hear shocking news; they feel it break with sadness and expand with joy. Acknowledgement and balance of heart, mind and body creates inner peace.
“It is the conviction to love that gives birth to miracles… Only if we are doing our own work will we be able to rise collectively to a place where changes are going to be able to occur.” Marianne Williamson
